The Talking Checkbook Macro Manager!
Documentation.
If you've been bored out of your mind while having to enter
the full line of whoever you are paying a check to, then here's
your best news of the day. Yup, we've added a macro database to
the Talking Checkbook which keeps files on abbreviations you
assign for certain payments. The Talking Checkbook will
automatically fill in the pay to field and the personal comment
field for you when it encounters a macro definition. Here's how
it works.
When you enter a check or search for one by the pay to
field, the Talking Checkbook brings up the macro database and
searches for a match of the data you entered. If for example you
write frequent checks to "Save the Children" and don't want to
write in "Save the Children" every time you write a check, then
define a macro called "stc" or something like that and if the
Talking Checkbook sees it in the macro file, then it will
automatically fill out "Save the Children" even though you typed
"stc" in response to the prompt as to who you are paying. It will
also automatically add your personal comment to the personal
comment field. Warning: don't use the double quotes when entering
information; they are only used here to illustrate what is typed.
To add macro definitions to your Talking checkbook, simply
go to the main data entry menu by pressing option 1 at the main
menu. Once there, then press option 8 and follow the prompts. You
will be adding lots of macros to your database and find that it
makes life real easy if you are like me and wait to the last
minute to put in a bunch of checks.
Once you have put in some macros, then try and enter a check
or search for a set of them in the edit screens or search
screens. You'll be delighted to see the records come marching up
without a million keystrokes. Also you'll find the automatic
entry of personal comment fields to be a real time saver and data
error check.
Enjoy and hope you live another five years longer with all
the energy you'll save by using the macros.
